Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report early analysis show the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A senior official said the attack made him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
